Position Overview

We are seeking a Policy Officer to support and further develop our science-to-policy activities at the EU level, with a particular focus on the human exposome and related life science initiatives. The exposome is the total set of environmental, social, geographical and lifestyle factors that shape health at individual and population level. The Policy Officer will be responsible for liaising with EU institutions, coordinating events, and producing high-quality policy outputs that bridge the gap between science and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Altertox’s science-to-policy portfolio, with emphasis on the human exposome.
  • Organize and manage events at European institutions (e.g., policy briefings, workshops, stakeholder lunches).
  • Draft policy-oriented documents, including briefings, amendments, and reports for policymakers.
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping and outreach to strengthen engagement.
  • Monitor and ensure customer and partner satisfaction.

Candidate Profile

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • University degree in life sciences, political science, European studies, or a related field.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience engaging with EU institutions and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and within a small team.
  • 2-3 professional experiences (excluding internships)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and adaptability.
  • Outgoing personality, comfortable in networking and stakeholder settings.

Employment Conditions

  • Schedule: Part-time (4/5).
  • Contract duration: 12 months (possibility of extension).
  • Work location: Hybrid (Brussels office and teleworking).
  • Salary & Benefits:
    • Commission Paritaire 200: 13.8 months’ salary
    • Open to negotiation depending on experience.
    • One additional week of holiday (week 52).
    • Meal vouchers (monthly) and eco-cheques (yearly).
    • Recup hours up to 40h/year.
    • Maximum two teleworking days/week plus teleworking allowance.
    • Two weeks of teleworking abroad per year in Europe.
