Location: Brussels

Duration: 6 months, full-time (mandatory learning/internship agreement* provided by the university)

Start date: ideally 24 November 2025

Deadline for applications: 17 October 2025

*The internship agreement must be signed by the student, the FIA, and the sending university.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Policy Intern will support the FIA Region I policy team on digitalisation, safety, and sustainability issues.

Under the supervision of the Policy Director, the intern will:

• Conduct research and draft web content on a wide range of issues
• Contribute to FIA Region I’s weekly newsletter
• Monitor EU hearings, legislative activities, and technical briefings, and report findings to staff (verbally or in writing)
• Assist in monitoring policy and legislative reports
• Support the organisation of internal meetings and policy events (outreach, logistics, follow-up)
• Identify, track, and report on relevant policy and technical developments
• Help update and maintain internal websites and policy-monitoring tools
• Provide policy-related administrative support as needed

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s or Master’s student in progress, ideally in transport/mobility policy, automotive/technical studies, European/public policy, or a related field (other fields considered if supported by relevant skills/experience)
• Strong interest in transport and mobility issues, and motivation to communicate relevant insights to members, policymakers, and stakeholders
• Excellent research and English writing skills (concise, clear and accurate)
• Detail-oriented and organised
• Self-starter, flexible, and able to manage multiple tasks in parallel
• Open to feedback, with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally
• Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Currently enrolled at a European higher education institution and able to provide a valid learning/internship agreement
• Eligible to work legally in Belgium

 

WHAT WE OFFER

• A full-time internship (Monday-Friday, 9:00-18:00)
• Practical experience in European policy and advocacy within a membership-based international organisation
• Exposure to EU research projects and policymaking processes
• A monthly stipend of EUR 800 as partial support for living expenses in Brussels
