About HDP

The Hyperloop Development Program Foundation (HDP) is a non-profit initiative founded in 2020 with the mission to facilitate the development of hyperloop technology to full technical readiness (TRL9). HDP brings together over 20 public and private partners and operates through three core activities, funded via public subsidy:

  • Coordination platform for Europe’s hyperloop test and research centers (e.g., EHC in the Netherlands, goTube in Emden-Leer, and EuroTube in Switzerland), enabling knowledge sharing and resource pooling.
  • EU-wide action plan & test facility roadmap, building on lessons from existing centers to design a mature hyperloop research program.
  • Policy positioning & outreach, representing the hyperloop ecosystem in European policy dialogues, at conferences, and in public events.

The Role

As Public Affairs & Communication Lead, you will shape and coordinate HDP’s external visibility, political positioning, and partner communication. Acting as a bridge between HDP, its partners, the media, and European stakeholders, you will be responsible for both lobbying and communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Lobbying & Public Affairs

  • Represent HDP’s interests in European policy dialogues.
  • Coordinate lobbying efforts with national governments and agencies alongside HDP partners (e.g., IenW, EZK, Eisenbahnbundesamt).
  • Ensure consistent representation of the hyperloop ecosystem across EU and national policy discussions.

Communication & Dissemination

  • Align communication efforts with partner organizations to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Redesign and manage the HDP website as a central communication channel.

Partner & Internal Communication

  • Strengthen internal communication with HDP partners through newsletters, updates, and knowledge-sharing tools.
  • Support the visibility of partners by highlighting contributions (e.g., interviews, events, major visits).

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a strategic yet hands-on professional with proven experience in lobbying, public affairs, and communication, ideally in a European or technology-driven environment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in public affairs, strategic communication, EU lobbying, or media relations.
  • Experience working with government stakeholders (mobility, infrastructure, or innovation sectors preferred).
  • Strong ability to translate complex initiatives into clear and compelling messages.
  • Demonstrated success in content creation, stakeholder engagement, and event-driven communication.
  • Experience coordinating lobbying in a multi-party or consortium setting (strong plus).
  • Fluency in English (written & spoken); additional European languages are an asset.

Application Process

Our structured recruitment process includes three steps:

  1. Introductory Call – Mutual introduction and alignment on expectations.
  2. In-Depth Call – Discussion of your expertise, vision, and ideas.
  3. Agreement Phase – Define scope, terms, and start date.
